Kalendář se Snoopym

Každý, kdo se aspoň trochu zajímá o počítače, dříve nebo později narazí na legendární text nazvaný "Opravdoví programátoři nepoužívají Pascal", který napsal Ed Post v roce 1982, a o šest let později ho do čestiny geniálně přeložil Láďa Zajíček z Mikrobáze. V onom textu je zmíněn kalendář se Snoopym z roku 1969. Leckoho možná při čtení napadlo jak vlastně ten prehistorický kalendář vypadal, a jestli se do dnešních dnů vůbec dochoval.

Jen málokdo má však odvahu ponořit se do temných zákoutí Internetu a pátrat po přepisech pradávných dat, uložených na zaprášených svitcích děrných pásek a v balíčcích děrných štítků. Přesto se našlo pár statečných internautů, kteří v nesmírném moři údajů a nánosech digitálního bahna objevují dávno zapomenuté poklady, jako je tenhle:

 
     

 

Ze šera dávnověku, kdy se velikosti pamětí měřily v kilobajtech a hmotnost počítačů v metrických centech nebo tunách, se tak vynořil kompletní zdrojový kód programu, napsaný v nejstarším programovacím jazyce FORTRAN. Je ve verzi z roku 1984, určené pro počítač PDP-11, nejdůležitější stroj v historii výpočetní techniky, a po malé úpravě dvou řádků bez problémů funguje i na dnešních počítačích:

Pro svůj běh program potřebuje data, ze kterých tvoří obrázky doprovázející jednotlivé měsíce. Ta se původně načítala z papírových děrných štítků, na každém štítku byl jeden řádek textu, dnes se dají mnohem pohodlněji načíst ze souboru:

Skuteční geekové, ve výše zmíněném textu nazývaní opravdoví muži, tak mají možnost zkompilovat si ze dvou stažených souborů vlastní program, který jim po úpravě konfiguračního štítku, neboli jednoho řádku v datovém souboru, který snadno naleznou, sestaví kalendář na libovolný rok. Návod je vepsaný přímo v komentářích kódu programu. Horší to bude s výrobou, protože žádná dnešní tiskárna nedokáže vytisknout původní textový výstup tak jak je potřeba, s překrývajícími se řádky.

Lamy a pojídači koláčů, v jejichž okolí se nenachází žádný použitelný kompilátor FORTRANu a historická tiskárna, pak musí vzít zavděk již hotovým kalendářem pro rok 2025 ve formátu PDF, uloženým přímo tady:
